8 February 2014: Comfort Food

Just when i feared that i would be at the mercy of my own cooking, there it was on the horizon: the welcoming, rosy glow of J.B. Alberto's. The Italian beef pizza with hot giardiniera truly eased the pain of being 600 miles away from a decent cheesesteak.

18 August 2013: Glenwood Sunday Market in Exile

Because of the Glenwood Ave. Arts Fest, the farmers market has been moved to J.B. Alberto's parking lot this week. My favorite GSM busker was there, looking like John Mellencamp and singing old James Taylor and Simon & Garfunkel songs.

PS. If you are wondering why i haven't posted any pictures of Arts Fest, rest assured. I'll be posting a special edition of images from the fest either tonight or tomorrow.

24 November 2012, Day 172

I've looked at this sculpture countless times, but have apparently been too focused on the parts to really see the whole. But thanks to the camera's eye, i've just realized that it looks like a monarch butterfly. I'd like it anyway, but being reminded of one of my favorite creatures only makes me like it more.
Putting art aside for a moment, i know that in the aftermath of a big Thanksgiving dinner and ensuing leftovers, i should practice a little restraint. But i've been craving pizza for weeks, and there's J.B. Alberto's right across the street. They don't open until 4:00 so until then i'll be watching the clock and dreaming of pepperoni.
