What better way to celebrate the long-awaited return of good weather than with a little live jazz and a little something good to eat. Philly's Best and SP Kebab (at the corner of Sheridan & Pratt) are going to have live music every Saturday night. There was a jazz group playing tonight. I didn't catch their name but they were very good. Best of all, after years of disappointments, it feels like that corner is finally coming alive to the potential it's always had. I noticed a sign saying that they are also going to have movie screenings on Wednesdays, so i'll definitely have to check that out as well. The only remaining question is whether to have a cheesesteak or a kebab, and that is not going to be an easy thing to decide.
A visual diary of what i encounter each day. Most of the pictures posted here were taken in or near Rogers Park in Chicago, but others were taken wherever i happened to be that day.

27 September 2014: Open for Business!
Philly's Best is open for business, and yours truly is happily busting her diet on an authentic Philly cheesesteak -- made with Cheez Whiz, of course -- with a TastyKake Butterscotch Krimpet for dessert. Business was looking pretty good when i was there, and i hope they will do well in this location. It's always great to welcome a new business to the 'hood, but it's even better when it's a place that serves one of my favorite guilty pleasures.

24 September 2014: Philly's Best
The sign on the chalkboard said "Private Party" and the place was full of cops, so i didn't try to force my way in and demand a cheesesteak, but Philly's Best Sports Bar definitely looks like it is ready for business.
Woohoo! Bring on the provolone cheesesteak hoagies!
Bring on the TastyKake Butterscotch Krimpets!
