Lincoln Square is one of the few Chicago neighborhoods that i like almost as much as my beloved Rogers Park. It's one of the best places i've found for patronizing high quality, independent businesses like the Book Cellar, Gene's Sausage Shop, and Merz Apothecary; it's also a great place to eat like a German (though i still mourn the demise of the extraordinary Delicatessen Meyer). Here are a few views of the 4700 block of N. Lincoln Ave. all decked out for the holidays.
A visual diary of what i encounter each day. Most of the pictures posted here were taken in or near Rogers Park in Chicago, but others were taken wherever i happened to be that day.

12 July 2014: Independent Bookstore Day in Chicago
When was the last time you went shopping in a brick-and-mortar bookstore? Well, there's no better day than today to get back in the habit. Today is Independent Bookstore Day in Chicago, so i dropped by one of my favorites, the Book Cellar in Lincoln Square. I bought a bag full of books and enjoyed a free cupcake. The cupcakes are gone but the books are still there; they're open until 10 tonight, so why not pay them a visit, or stop by your personal favorite bookstore.
