10 June 2012, Day 5 (Revised with Added Pictures)

Blues Fest is the kind of place where two strangers, like the two people pictured here, can break into a spontaneous dance. The KoKo Taylor Blues Machine Band was playing with a series of female singers in a tribute to the late, great KoKo Taylor. The headline act tonight was the wonderful Mavis Staples. She sang "The Weight" and dedicated it to Levon Helm, and i got all teary-eyed. The other, more dubious highlight was seeing Mayor Rahm Emanuel wearing a pair of shorts.

BONUS PHOTO: second dirtiest feet at Blues Fest. The dirtiest feet belonged to a guy who was bigger than me so i was afraid to take his picture. NB. Bare feet are not the standard at Blues Fest, but at least they're dancing!

BONUS PHOTO #2 (added 11 June): I really like this picture and felt badly about not including it with this post, so i'm adding it a day later. It looks like the Zombie Apocalypse Blues Fest (with a few little raindrops thrown in for effect). I'm having a hard time sticking to one picture a day on this blog, but will continue to strive to play by my own rules.
